Blueberries are wonderful in so many forms - cobbler, pie, jam, muffins, over ice cream - but they are not just delicious! The plants are very ornamental with attractive spring flowers, autumnal color and, of course, the berries themselves. They also lend themselves perfectly to container growing, particularly Sunshine Blue, a dwarf variety that gets only three to four feet tall. |
|
Blueberries have enormous health benefits, being high in vitamins C and A and minerals as well as antioxidants that combat cancer, heart disease and the effects of aging. In fact, the same can be said of other berries, too. Blackberries have been found to be a very potent source of antioxidants while raspberries are among the top anti-cancer foods, along with grapes, cherries and apples.
This season, we have added two new blueberries, Emerald and Legacy, giving you a choice of eleven varieties, and a new thornless blackberry, Ouachita. |

Minnie Royal and Royal Lee Cherries Now Available on 3CR178 Rootstock
Last season saw the introduction of 3CR178, the new dwarfing rootstock for cherries that limits the height of unpruned trees to eight feet. We are very pleased to add Minnie Royal and Royal Lee to the varieties previously available on this new rootstock, Bing, Craig's Crimson, Lapins and Rainier. They both require only 2-300 chilling hours so this is excellent for those of you who want to grow cherries, but live in low chill areas and do not have a great deal of space. |
 |
|
New Rootstock: M 27
Extremely dwarfing rootstock for apples. Trees dwarfed to 50% of standard. Ideal for high density planting, small spaces in garden and tub growing. Induces early and heavy bearing of slightly smaller than normal fruit. Shallow root system; young trees require staking. Prefers well drained soil and requires constant soil moisture. Rarely suckers. Resistant to fireblight. Winter hardy in cold areas if roots can be protected from severe soil heaving.
New Lower Chill Hours
We would like to point out that chill hours on many varieties have been lowered to reflect actual experience.
What you see on our website is the latest information from Dave Wilson Nursery. Some of the more noteworthy changes are on the sour cherries North Star Dwarf, Montmorency and English Morello, Arctic Jay nectarine, Donut and Double Jewel peaches and the August ripening apricots, Autumn Glo and Earliautumn, which extend the apricot season.
Please be advised that the tags that arrive with your trees will almost certainly state the old chill hours so do not despair when the information is not the same! |
